Getting Big

Baby Jackie is getting big- FAST. He is really trying to sit himself up, has great control of his head and is grabbing at things and putting them into his mouth. Here he is for the first time in his high chair eating his number links.

On another note I have been back to work now for three weeks. It is so tough leaving both of them so early in the morning at their school to go teach at my school. I am finally into a good schedule at my job where I am back with my class, pumping on a good schedule and I am getting stuff done. We are very busy preparing for the dance festival that will be in two weeks. HUGE THANKS to Allison Mickelson for helping out so so so so so much choreographing our dance. My mom, Marianne, myself and all of our students cannot thank you enough. I am sure it will be great!!

Halloween Fun

We had tons of fun this Halloween now that Emme can enjoy it a little more! SHe had a blast at her two Halloween parties at school, a Halloween visit to the Cortlandt Farm Market, and trick or treating at Aunt Jeanine's and Uncle Kevin's and with Mommy and Daddy. This made for a ton of candy for Mommy um I mean Emme! Baby Quinn will be born on a sugar high for sure!

Musical Cupcakes

Every year my class and my mom's class do the Dance Festival together. We have to choose a song and choreograph a dance for the kids to perform in front of the entire school. Every class has to participate and I HATE IT! I dislike it so much because I cannot dance and I feel so stupid. My mom can't dance either. So this year I asked our music teacher who is awesome to help us with the dance. She was amazing and our dance came out super. The pressure was completely lifted. I have no problem following along once the moves are created. So we would have a mini lesson once a week learning the moves and then the other 3 practices I would drill the kids while my mom taped them or yelled at them to get where they needed to go. Not an easy feat with 42 4th graders and 1st graders but they worked it out and it was awesome. We did the song "Rock This Town." And to celebrate we threw a surprise thank you party for our fabulous music/dance festival teacher Ms. Mickelson. I made cupcakes and drew the music notes for the chorus of Rock This Town on them. I figured out where to download the music from and then created the cupcakes. Not easy either when I know zero about reading music but I just tried to copy exactly how the notes were. In the end they were delicious!

Bark For Life 2010

Brody
Our Team!

Thank you to all who donated to the American Cancer Society Bark For Life. Our team raised over $1,500 to help in the fight against cancer in our human and canine friends. This was our biggest team so far and hope to raise even more money next year. Maybe you will consider joining our team. You don't even need a dog!

Back to Work

Well September finally arrived and so did a new school year. I have to say I was very excited to start the year with the very same class as last year minus a few- one left :( for private school, one was placed in a special needs room (at least I get to see her every day) and the problem child switched schools. I think his mom was so annoyed I called everyday to discuss his poor, disruptive and dangerous behavior she couldn't deal with it anymore! Hopefully he stays at this new school and gets the help he needs.

All the rest of the kids are great and were so excited to be back. One said, "It's just like a long weekend and now we are back." Another said, "Now we are just taller!" I was a little nervous about the first day telling them I was pregnant- I guess not nervous about them but their parents. However everyone is very excited and I know I will get them ready before I leave for maternity leave so things will be fine. I told the kids the baby can hear everything so I shouldn't have to yell or scream and they should be quiet too. So one little genius turns to my belly and yells HI BABY!!!! So much for following directions better now that we are in fourth grade.

I am gettting promoted to the 4TH GRADE!

Hehe- after being left back in third for four years straight I get the chance to go to fourth grade. The nicest thing is that I am looping up with my entire class so in September we get to carry on where we left off. I have always wanted to do it and my class is really great so this should be a fun year even though there is so much prep for three state tests. I am not too worried since I taught fourth for three years when I started at PS 182. I did take some of the new books home that they use though to prepare myself. I will keep you posted on our progress.
